The Carrie Diaries: Lie with Me Recap/Review

This episode of 'The Carrie Diaries' was titled 'Lie with Me' as it had the theme of lying running through-out. I thought it was a pretty enjoyable episode, my only criticism is that I wish Carrie spent more time in the city. Other than that, this was a really good episode that build on the 'Pilot'. Picking up from last week, Dorrit and Carrie are still grounded but they have used this time to bond and become closer. Whereas, Donna is proving to be a threat when she begins to get closer to Sebastian, especially when she runs into him at the country club. However, Maggie and Walt are a couple that seem to be coming apart saying as he isn't ready to have sex with her yet. The Mouse spots Donna and Sebastian at the country club so she quickly finds a phone to inform Carrie. The twosome are outside smoking pot but Carrie decides to trust Sebastian anyway. When Carrie asks Sebastian about the country club at school he tells her that it was "uneventful". Although, Donna comes strolling down the hallway wearing Sebastian's jacket from that night, leading our heroine to believe that Sebastian isn't all that trustworthy.

Sebastian apologizes later for lying and getting caught. He and Carrie smooth things over when he tells her that nothing happened between him and Donna, which we believe because we're treated to a flashback. At lunch the gang discuss Carrie and Sebastian but Maggie then lets slip that she and Walt still haven't slept together. After lunch, Carrie questions Maggie about her sex life as she told Carrie and The Mouse that she has had sex but she just said that she hasn't. Maggie says she lied but she's lying now as we know that she has been hooking up with a young cop. The next day, Carrie gets ready for her internship and makes plans to hang out with Dorrit the following day at the pool. When Carrie arrives at work, she overhears her bitchy boss lady Barbra talking about a date she has that night, how she has nothing to wear and that's the reason why she doesn't get laid. That's a little bit too much information for me and Carrie. Boss lady then tells Carrie that Larissa has been calling basically non-stop so Carrie calls her as soon as possible. Larissa says to Carrie that they want to shoot her purse for Interview Magazine right now so Carrie must hatch a plan to get out of work.

Before Carrie can escape, she gets a call from Sebastian who asks her to go to a concert with him that weekend. She jumps at the chance to jump into Sebastian's arms but right now she has to get out of the law firm to get to the shoot. She succeeds in her plan by telling her boss lady that she has to run to the printer to get more copies of files. At school, Maggie tries to get it on with Walt in the halls but he's having none of that. When Carrie finally arrives at the photo shoot, she's not there long before she has to go again so she leaves her purse with Larissa to retrieve at a later date. In exchange for the purse, Larissa gives Carrie a one of a kind Dior scarf. Then when Carrie gets back to work she finds her boss angry and waiting.

Carrie gets out of her bind with a ton of fake confidence and a one of a kind scarf. In order to butter her boss up, Carrie gives her the scarf for the big date. Hopefully she'll get laid now and be less angry. Back in the suburbs, The Mouse finds Donna hanging all over Sebastian again. Meanwhile, Dorrit talks to her friend about how fun Carrie can be to hang out with sometimes. Downstairs, Carrie and Walt are talking about he and Maggie when The Mouse shows up to tell Carrie that she needs to bag Sebastian before Donna does. So the next day, Carrie asks Sebastian to meet her at swim club after school.

Unfortunately, Carrie has forgotten that she was supposed to meet Dorrit at swim club and Dorrit's pissed when she finds out about Carrie's new plans. Walt also has plans of his own as he waits to have sex with Maggie after school. But she's already busy doing it with the cop in the backseat of his car (classy). When Dorrit arrives home in a fury, her father begins asking her what's wrong. He then shows up at the swim club to break up a kiss between Carrie and Sebastian.

After Carrie and Sebastian have changed, Tom Bradshaw formally meets his daughter's admirer. Walt then breaks up with Maggie because he doesn't love her in the way she wants him to love her. The next day, Tom tells Carrie that her grounding is over as the two weeks is now done but he's pretty hurt about her lying to him. Carrie promises to not screw up again, if she does then there will be no more internship. He also tells her that she can't date Sebastian as he knows some stuff about Sebastian's family. She agrees but Carrie isn't gonna let her father stop her from seeing Sebastian. The last person Carrie has to fix things with is Dorrit which she does and they have a movie night with Mouse. But before the movie begins, Sebastian shows up and she explains that things are difficult right now so she can't go to the concert with him. Although, the two are still very much in love. After movie night, Maggie arrives to tell the girls about her and Walt's break-up. This ends the episode with some female bonding. Like last week, I didn't take very much notes while watching the episode because I'm still trying to get to know this world but I really loved this episode. It was so fun and I can't wait to see what's coming next.

Overall episode score:-
'Lie with Me' = A+
