The Vampire Diaries: Catch Me If You Can Recap/Review
'The Vampire Diaries' this week was mostly about Jeremy in an episode named 'Catch Me If You Can.' The episode starts at the bar where last week left off, Jeremy doesn't want to take part in Klaus' teaching techniques so instead Klaus has the vampires in the bar come after Matt and Jeremy. Matt trips in the woods and Jeremy helps him by fighting off the vampires. When Damon shows up to help, they say that they're going back to the lake house because it's the only place that's safe. Elena then arrives to help, it's like she can smell trouble.
The next morning, the gang feels like the vampires must have gone back to the bar so Damon has Elena take Matt home. This leaves Damon and Jeremy behind to fight off the vampires. In Mystic Falls, Rebekah is hanging out in Stefan's room and reading his diary. She wants Stefan to join Team Rebekah in the race for the cure. They create a plan to break into Shane's office and steal a headstone which is one of the keys in Silas' (that immortal witch) resurrection. Speaking of Shane, he and Bonnie are practicing magic when the sheriff busts in to arrest him. When Jeremy and Damon return to the bar they find out that all the vampires are already dead thanks to Kol.
Kol doesn't want to wake Silas because he will trigger the end of all time so Kol tries to stop Klaus' plan of making Jeremy into a hunter. Damon gets a little bit too violent with Kol which leads to Kol kidnapping him. At Shane's office, Rebekah tries to get Stefan to loosen up with some of Shane's herbs but Stefan is a major stick in the mud. Meanwhile, Shane is being questioned about killing all those people involved in the pastor's fire. Bonnie's dad allows her to talk to Shane about it but he confesses to her and she loses trust in him. While Elena and Matt are talking at her house, she gets a call from Jeremy telling her that Kol has Damon so she goes to Klaus for help. You never go to Klaus for help, Elena! Klaus calls Kol to tell him to let Damon go and stay away from Jeremy. However, Kol has Damon compelled to kill Jeremy. Oh Kol, you are so devious!
Rebekah and Stefan get real comfortable when discussing the past. I wouldn't mind seeing them as a couple, it would make Stefan less whiny so that's a plus. But they have to stop the love fest when someone else enters Shane's office. The two hide while this guy finds the headstone and then they pounce. Outside Elena's house, Damon comes over to visit and then they leave for the Mystic Grill so Damon can 'apologize' to Jeremy. Back to Bonnie, she's real angry with Shane but he says that he's just "passionate". Bonnie gets pissed but Shane then offers to bring Bonnie's Grams back. How could he stoop so low? Damon finds Jeremy at the Grill and then he realizes that he has been compelled by Kol. Jeremy also sees the look on Damon's face and starts running. Damon tells Elena what's happening but he can't control his urges and so he goes after Jeremy. In the back of the Grill, Jeremy hides but has to use the escape exit that takes him through the underground tunnels to get away from Damon. Although, Damon sees the exit open and goes after him.
Damon and Jeremy play a game of cat and mouse in the tunnels while Rebekah tries to get answers out of the guy she and Stefan have captured. This dude is compelled so he stabs himself in the neck until he's dead. This leads Stefan and Rebekah to believe that someone else other than Damon or Klaus is trying to find the cure. Back at the police station, Bonnie is getting more angry with Shane so she starts a fire with her magic. She's lost control and only Shane can calm her down. He is seriously so annoying, when is someone going to kill Shane? Underground, Elena is trying her best to find Damon and Jeremy but she needs help so she calls Stefan. Elsewhere, Jeremy starts leaving a trail of his blood, this way Damon will find him and then Jeremy can shoot him with his hunters gun. Damon pleads with Jeremy to shoot him in the heart because this will then kill Damon and stop him from coming after Jeremy.
Jeremy doesn't listen to Damon, he shoots him in the head instead. Rebekah finds Kol and threatens to dagger him but then he pulls the white oak stake on her and Klaus has to break it up. Back with Jeremy, he's now in the woods and it's not long before Damon finds him. Also, Elena isn't too far behind, she tries to stop him with the sire bond but it doesn't work. Stefan then has to knock Damon out. That was so badass, no more broody Stefan.
Stefan locks Damon up and he will stay locked up until they find the cure. How many times have they had to lock Damon up in this show? Goodness! Elena tries to go see Damon but she ain't allowed, just in case he uses his powers over her. In the Grill, Bonnie's dad says that he thinks she needs help after the fire. Later, Klaus arrives at Elena's house to offer help with the Jeremy/Kol situation but they don't want his help. Then Stefan goes to see Rebekah for a booty call, literary. Lastly, Elena says that she plans for Jeremy to kill Kol. Good luck with that. I felt like this episode wasn't up to the standard of normal episodes. At this point, it's just a lot of plot. I just didn't really enjoy this week as much but it was a better episode than most teen dramas.
Overall episode score:-
'Catch Me If You Can' = A
