Pretty Little Liars: What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted Recap/Review

I really liked 'What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted' which was this week's episode of 'Pretty Little Liars'. I mostly liked this episode because 'A' has finally gotten deadly again. At school, Hanna, Emily and Aria discuss Spencer and how she's been M.I.A. lately. They then see Spencer having an argument with Andrew who is kicking her out of the nerd team. She doesn't take this very well as she feels like Mona is somehow behind it. Emily catches up with Spencer to talk about what just went down but Spence doesn't want to talk so she makes a bee-line for the door. She goes to put on her sunglasses but she then sees a message from 'A' written inside the lenses, it reads: "You rat out T, I take down 1 of your 3. -A"

Emily runs into Cece at the Brew, Em asks her if she knows anything about Wilden and Alison hooking up but Cece plays dumb and leaves in a hurry. At Spencer's house, Andrew comes over to talk to her about the team but she wants back on so they quiz each other, if she wins then she gets back on the team. Here's the catch: for every answer one of them gets wrong, they each must take off an item of clothing. Elsewhere, Hanna talks to Caleb's uncle, Jamie, about how she thinks that he's actually Caleb's father. Jaime actually admits it and says that he hasn't told Caleb because he's made a lot of mistakes. Hanna then convinces him that Caleb wants him in his life so she'll set up a meeting with them. Back with Spencer, Andrew is down to his underwear because he's been getting a lot of stuff wrong. Then Emily shows up and all she says is "should I have brought more cupcakes," I thought this was so funny, Emily has been hilarious lately. However, Andrew is too embarrassed so he makes a run for it. After this, Emily gets real pissed at Spencer's decisions. Why is everyone being so mean to Spencer? She's going through a lot! But I do miss the stable Spencer because this one is crazy.

Aria goes to see Wesley at Ezra's apartment but he's trying to leave as his mother has found where he is. Then Aria gets a call from Cece who asks her to take photos for a website. I forgot that Aria worked for a photographer lady. Aria agrees if Wesley can be her assistant. Meanwhile, Caleb and Hanna have a fight because he's mad that she went searching through his past. At school, Emily talks to Jason about Ali, Wilden and Cape May. Jason confesses that he called Wilden about the whole thing but Wilden didn't call him back. How rude! Also, Jason tells her that Ali made a collage from Cape May and it's in their dad's office so Ems asks to see it. Over at the Hastings' residence, Melissa is staying with Spencer while their parents are gone. Ohhhh! We haven't actually seen Melissa in so long, where ya been gurl!? Then Wren shows up because Mona told him that Spencer has been acting crazy. Why would Wren even trust Mona, is he an idiot? Although, when Spencer hears about Mona, she tells Wren that she would feel much better if she went for a ride to where the nerd team is having a quiz off. Wren is totally an idiot because he falls for this. Hanna didn't exactly cancel Jamie's meeting with Caleb so she's surprised when Caleb shows up. He was just a little scared earlier but everything's fine now.

Jamie is way late for the meeting and Caleb thinks that this is so typical. He and Hanna are about to give up when Jamie finally arrives. After a little bit of awkwardness, the night starts to go well. Later, Emily and Jason stop off at his house before they make it to his dad's office. Outside the house is littered with empty beer bottles. Jason thinks this has something to do with Wilden but Emily gets a text from 'A' that says: "Better tell him to save a couple. He might need it. -A"

Cece leaves Aria and Wesley alone while she goes to get some dinner. This turns out to be a bad idea because they drink her red wine and then Wesley spills some on the white carpet. Unrelated side note: I really like Wesley's blue shirt in this episode. When Jason and Emily finally get to the office, they find a picture of Ali with Cece and Wilden, meaning Cece lied! GASP! Jason then has a flashback to the night of Ali's murder: He's real drunk and he sees Melissa talking to someone that looks like Alison but she turns around and it's Cece. At Hanna's house, she asks Ashley to convince Pastor Ted to have Jamie work on restoring parts of the church, that way he can stay in Rosewood and bond with Caleb for longer. Hanna is such a supportive girlfriend! When Spencer arrives at the nerd quiz thing, she goes off the deep end. She tells Mona that she knows that Mona called Wren and she's not backing down. Although, either is Mona who starts taunting Spence about Toby. At this point, Spencer has had enough so she lunges at Mona but the fight is broken up before Spencer can get any good hits in. I wish she had punched Mona or something!

Aria and Wesley are so scared about what Cece is going to think about her carpet but she calls them to say that he car got towed which is another lie. Is she trying to get Aria and the mini Fitz together? Next, Hanna and Caleb share a really nice scene in the Rosewood church, I love the tender moments on this show. Ashley then informs them that Jamie got the job. On her way out of the church, Hanna inserts some money that has a drawing on it into the money box. Meanwhile, Emily and Jason ride down to the exit in an elevator but it stops and traps both of them. At Aria's house, she lets Wesley stay over as he has nowhere to go but he then kisses her (shiping this). Back in the elevator, Jason and Emily try to escape by jumping from the half open shaft onto the next floor. Emily gets real scared, I would be too but she eventually does it. It's then Jason's turn to jump but the elevator doors close and it plummets downwards. Scary stuff, do we believe that 'A' is behind this? I think so.

Ashley orders a pizza to celebrate Jamie's new job but he pays for it because Ashely doesn't have change. However, it's paid with the money that Hanna put into the money box back at the church. Oh no, I really wanted Jamie to be a good guy, poor Caleb. Then all the girls get an 'S.O.S.' from Emily. It's been a while since we last had an 'S.O.S.' At the hospital, Jason reveals that Emily and Spencer were right because someone from the N.A.T. club wants him gone, he then says that he doesn't have the picture anymore. You had one job Jason, one job! The liars (even Spencer who seems to be coming back to her old self) all meet outside Jason's hospital room when they're then told by the nurse that Jason is gone. They rush in to find an empty bed, has 'A' taken Jason? How did they do that so quickly? Does 'A' have beef against the N.A.T. club? So many questions... This episode was brilliant and it felt like a return to some of the older episodes so I was really happy. The next five episodes are gonna go by so quickly! Ugh and it just started getting really good!

Overall episode score:-
'What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted' = A+
