The Vampire Diaries: Down the Rabbit Hole Recap/Review

Remember how I was bashing this season of 'The Vampire Diaries' last week? Disregard everything I said. Okay, not everything because I still feel like the cure storyline was drawn out too much. However, this week's episode, 'Down the Rabbit Hole', was a big payoff. This episode gets going with Damon tied up to a tree in vervain soaked ropes by that hunter dude, named Vaughn. Damon learns that Vaughn has been watching the Mystic Falls gang for a while. On the beach, Elena fills Caroline in on everything that has happened and then she asks Caroline to get the hunter's sword from Klaus so they can translate the map to find the cure. They're guessing that Shane has taken Bonnie and Jeremy to the cure so Elena and co. will use the pictures of Jeremy's tattoo to find them. Shane arrives at the well so he gives the witch the tombstone as payment for helping him. Apparently this tombstone is wanted in the witch community and has nothing to do with the cure. At Elena's house, Caroline and Tyler have found the sword so they go to Klaus for help translating because it's written in a dead language. However, Klaus doesn't want to help them. Back on the island, Elena apologizes to Stefan for getting everyone into trouble again. I'm glad that she recognizes how annoying she can be. In the woods, Vaughn explains that he wants to awaken Silas so he can use the cure to kill the immortal vamp. At the Gilbert's, Klaus helps translate because he realizes what it means: There is only one dose of the cure. This means that only one vampire can take it.



Down the well, Bonnie hurts her hand which leads to bleeding. This is bad because spilled blood in the well awakens crazy ghosts controlled by Silas. On the beach, Caroline gives Rebekah information on where the cure is but Klaus shouts to her that there is only one dose. Game on, vamps! Elsewhere, Damon asks Vaughn about why he saved Jeremy and Bonnie with the hatchet but Vaughn says that he didn't save them. So Damon and Vaughn learn that there is someone else on this island. On the hunt for the cure, Rebekah gets some time alone with Stefan to tell him that there is only one cure. Down the well, Bonnie begins casting a spell which takes away Jeremy's tattoo.

Rebekah learns that if Stefan were to get the cure then he would give it to Elena anyway so she snaps his neck and off she goes. Back in the well, Bonnie's spell was real powerful and it had boulders flying everywhere. One of the boulders has trapped Shane, I laughed at this because he is such a loser. The funniest part is that Bonnie and Jeremy just leave him there. Upwards, the hunter has found the well so it's time to kill Damon. But Rebekah enters so it's two vampires against one hunter. Back with Stefan, he and Elena talk about the cure and she gives up on it because everyone else deserves it as much as she does. Then she realizes that Bonnie's spell won't hold Klaus at home so he's gonna go crazy when he gets free. Speaking of, Caroline and Tyler realize the same thing so Tyler must leave before Klaus kills him. At the top of the well, Vaughn means business. He attacks Rebekah and Damon with weapons that we've never even seen before. Although, he jumps down the well when Elena and Stefan show up.

Damon encourages Elena to go get the cure while Stefan frees him. In a tunnel, Bonnie and Jeremy are still searching when Bonnie sees a very creepy Grams that tells her to awaken Silas. But Jeremy talks her down and tells her that it's just a hallucination. At the Gilbert house, Klaus says that he and Caroline are very similar so she tells him that if they were actually similar then he would show mercy for Tyler. Klaus agrees to only give Tyler a "head start" on the hunt to kill him. Down the well, Elena gets jumped by a shadowy figure. I'm screaming: 'It has to be Katherine!'

Tyler says his goodbyes to Caroline in a really sad scene, it was great. In the well, Stefan goes after Elena but he sees Shane and just leaves him there to die. Hopefully he is dead now and there will be no more Shane on this show ever again. Meanwhile, Bonnie and Jeremy find Silas' body with the cure but it's as hard as rock and they can't detach it. Bonnie says that the only way to get the cure is to awaken Silas. But Jeremy is all like 'no dice, girlfriend,' as he thinks that there has to be another way, that's when Vaughn stabs Bonnie.

Jeremy tries to fight off Vaughn, Jeremy's got moves! Although, Elena comes to finish the job. Just kidding, it's actually Katherine pretending to be Elena! In Mystic Falls, Klaus gets freed from Bonnie's spell. After this, Stefan finds Elena lying on the ground pathetically when she reveals to him that Katherine is here. Jeremy is all concerned about poor Bonnie but Katherine is only thinking about the cure so she feeds Jeremy's blood to Silas and grabs the cure. Jeremy is left to be sucked dry by Silas and his body falls to the floor. I'm not sure but I think he is actually dead this time. This was an amazing episode and I hope Jeremy is dead because it would be great to see how Elena deals with this. Although, I would miss him. Can next week get here faster so I know what's gonna happen!?
