This week 'The Vampire Diaries' went 'Into the Wild' as the gang was searching for the cure on some mysterious island. We pretty much start the episode on this island with no explanation as to how the gang got there. Slightly before this though, we see a flashback to one year ago when Professor Shane was running all around the island and then he found a well. In the present, they're not on the island for long but Rebekah and Elena are already fighting. I'm glad that Rebekah was included on the trip though. While that happens, Bonnie takes pictures of Jeremy's body... I mean tattoo. I bet Bonnie loves taking those pictures. Back in Mystic Falls, Tyler is on Klaus watch because Klaus is still trapped in Elena's living room. On the island, Rebekah says that Elena is the only person here who doesn't have a point. I love Rebekah's comedy. Later, everyone is out walking when Shane tells us a story: He offered his blood to the well and that allowed him to see his dead wife. We then see that there are more people on this island when somebody tries to shoot Jeremy with an arrow. This person is then killed with a hatchet.
Caroline comes over to help Tyler babysit. It's kinda funny because she's not there long until she says that Elena's house is a 'disaster'. She then mouths off to Klaus so he bites her when she gets close enough. That will teach Caroline not to nag. Back on the island, Rebekah admits that she gets scared and her tough persona is all an act. Inside some hut or something, Shane tells Bonnie and Damon that his wife used expression to try to resurrect their dead son's body (or maybe she was trying to resurrect Silas, it's one or the other...), so she crazy! Bonnie gets all upset that Shane didn't tell her about his wife being a witch. But he continues by saying that he wants Silas to resurrect his wife and son. So that's what his plan is, did we know this? In a tent, Jeremy gets kidnapped.
Caroline wakes up and she gets real scared because she has now be infected with the werewolf bite curse thing, thanks to Klaus and he won't heal her unless he gets set free. The next morning, the crew realizes that Jeremy is gone. Inside the hut, Shane tries to call someone and Damon catches him so this makes us all very suspicious. Damon is done trusting Shane and he wants answers. I've never trusted him. Shane tells Damon that the cure is at the bottom of the well because that's what his dead wife told him. Outside, Bonnie casts a spell to find Jeremy and she follows the trail. Elsewhere, Rebekah and Elena show us again how much they hate each other. However, Elena almost gets killed and Rebekah saves her life. So maybe Rebekah doesn't hate Elena that much.
Shane explains that the sacrifice requires three massacres, the pastor fire, the hybrid Christmas blood fest and now Shane has brought the gang to the island for the last sacrifice (that's what Damon said, anyway). In Mystic Falls, Tyler comes up with a plan to save Caroline. He brings her to the living room and tells Klaus to watch her die or cure her. Meanwhile, Damon tries to torture answers out of Shane but Shane is taunting him. Then just as Damon gets close to killing Shane, Elena comes in to shout at Damon and free Shane. Go away, Elena! Ugh, you're ruining everything!
Damon and Elena fight outside about her feelings for him. She then asks him to take the cure with her but that's not what he wants. Elsewhere, Rebekah explains herself, the only reason she ran Elena off the bridge is because Elena was trying to kill her brother. She says that they would do the same thing to her. I completely agree, they've done some crappy things to Rebekah and they always label her as the bad guy. They then meet up with Elena. Rebekah finds out that the tombstone is gone.
Caroline is dying so she wins Klaus over when she tells him that he isn't pure evil as he's in love with her and people that love aren't evil. So he cures her out of love. Rebekah thinks that everyone is against her but Stefan explains that they're not. Although, everyone other than Stefan, Rebekah and Elena are gone so it's just those three now. Somewhere in the woods, a witch working with Shane has Jeremy all tied up when Bonnie is led to them by her spell. They're all Shane needs so he gets to work on his evil plan. Elsewhere, Damon is staggering around when one of the brotherhood of the five attacks him. This must have been the guy that saved Jeremy with the hatchet. This episode wasn't great because I'm so over this storyline with Shane but it gave us some answers so it was satisfying. Also, it wasn't as bad as last week.
Overall episode score:-
'Into the Wild' = A
