The Carrie Diaries: Fright Night (Halloween Episode) Recap/Review

It was appropriate that this week's episode of 'The Carrie Diaries' was named 'Fright Night' because I found it just frightening. Also, this was a Halloween episode, which is great as I love Halloween! Carrie and Walt plan to spend this holiday at a party being held by Larissa while Sebastian rents out the diner and holds a Halloween party in Castlebury. It's a good thing that Carrie is going to New York because Sebastian didn't invite her to his party anyway. Her and Walt dress up as Princess Diana and Prince Charles on their wedding day for the big night out. I love their costumes! At Larissa's party, Carrie meets a guy named Bennett that works at Interview Magazine, he is dressed as Alex from 'A Clockwork Orange'. Larissa on the other hand, is dressed as a bird. To get the party started, Larissa hands the teens some Ecstasy.

Carrie throws her Ecstasy on the floor while no-one is looking but Walt takes his. Carrie promises to keep an eye on the high Walt but she also has her sights set on Bennett. In Castlebury, Maggie plans to crash Sebastian's party and she's bringing The Mouse along for the ride. Although, The Mouse protests because she's Team Carrie and doesn't really like Sebastian, at all. In New York, Carrie gets closer to Bennett but Larissa annoyingly interrupts. It seems that Larissa has been taking more drugs than we first thought. She has actually taken two Ecstasy pills, washed them down with champagne and then she had some LSD for desert. So Carrie takes care of Larissa and leaves Bennett to watch Walt. Then Larissa heads for the roof because this bird wants to fly.

Dorrit is the worst! Tom had to ground her because she was planning to sneak out and destroy the neighborhood. So instead she sits home watching Poltergeist while eating all the candy and making Tom feel bad. On a completely different note: I wanna watch Poltergeist now. Back at Larissa's party, Carrie successfully got her off the roof and into bed. Carrie then finds out that it's tough work being fabulous like Larissa. Whereas Walt finds out that the city is where anything is possible. At Sebastian's party, Maggie goes looking for some alcohol and The Mouse plays Pac-Man. Outside the New York party, Walt and Bennett get very close, they then end up kissing. But Walt freaks out and denies being gay. He even says that he has a girlfriend in Castlebury. After this, he calls Bennett a 'fag' (which is just too far) and runs away.

Carrie leaves a passed out Larissa to rejoin the party and find Bennett. While in Castlebury, Sebastian joins The Mouse's Pac-Man party. Afterwards they get to talking and The Mouse begins to actually like Sebastian. He then lights up a joint and offers some to her. These teenagers are out of the control! The local cops seem to think this as Maggie's young cop fling arrives to bust up the party. I loved when The Mouse freaked out about taking pot at this point, her freak outs are becoming very enjoyable. When Carrie catches up with Bennett, she realizes that Walt is gone. He is wandering the streets and sees two hooligans trying to beat up a gay couple. Walt breaks it up but the guys tell him that the couple are two 'freaks'.

Carrie talks with Bennett about the Walt situation in Larissa's room where they find some guy all over her. Once Carrie is done with getting the guy to buzz off, she realizes that it was wrong to leave Larissa helpless. So she leaves Bennett in charge of Larissa while she goes to find Walt. Although, just before she leaves, Carrie figures out that Bennett is gay. Meaning the whole night was a flop. In the restroom of the diner, Maggie tries to get her boy toy to back off the party. She succeeds but only after he has resisted her advances which she then uses against him. At the Bradshaw house, Poltergeist scared the crap out of Dorrit and she ends up needing her dad after all. Outside Larissa's party, Carrie finds a sad Walt who feels afraid of who he might be. I feel so sad for Walt, I want big things for him.

Sebastian waits outside Carrie's house so he can deliver a stoned Mouse. I love The Mouse's comedy, I find her scenes so funny, especially the freaks outs. Meanwhile, Walt arrives at Maggie's house where he kisses her and then they have sex as he's still denying who he is. I don't approve of what Walt did but I can understand it. Although, I wish he had come out to Carrie and saved himself for a guy he was in love with. But I will be fine with this storyline if we later get a good story about Walt's first time with a guy. For right now though, this was a pretty shocking moment and the final montage kept that going with a creepy cover of Michael Jackson's 'Somebody's Watching Me'. I want all the episodes of 'The Carrie Diaries' now so I can see what happens! Ugh, can it be next week already?

Overall episode score:-
'Fright Night' = A+
