The Carrie Diaries: Endgame Recap/Review

It was Thanksgiving, 80's style, on this week's episode of 'The Carrie Diaries'. In 'Endgame' Carrie tried her hardest to have the perfect family Thanksgiving in order to honor her mother's memory. Plus, things with George are just heating up so Carrie is juggling a lot. We learn that everyone has very special Thanksgiving plans; Sebastian will be spending the day with his mother, The Mouse will be eating at the country club, Maggie is going to Walt's house and Carrie will be helping her grandmother to cook. However, Carrie's grandparents get stuck in Florida so it's up to Carrie to save the day. Things would be going great if Dorrit wasn't trying to spoil everything like how she ruined their mother's recipes. In addition, Carrie finds out that her father has asked Harlen and George to dinner which just adds to the pressure.

Luckily, The Mouse was done with Thanksgiving dinner early so she's free to help Carrie cook. Then George arrives and things are already going terribly because Dorrit has placed some of Carrie's most embarrassing items around the house. Dorrit is such a little brat! At Walt's house, Maggie isn't getting along very well with his parents, especially when they mention the future and which college she'll be attending. These are all things that Mags has put no thought into. Back at the Bradshaw's, Carrie is trying to have some alone time with George but is interrupted when Dorrit tells her that The Mouse needs help with the turkey. Watching Carrie try to cook is so funny. While that's happening, George bonds with Dorrit which Carrie isn't too happy about. Although, she can't focus on that too much because the turkey is too big for the oven and The Mouse has had enough. Poor Mouse.

Carrie shoves that turkey into the oven and sets it high so it'll cook faster. Meanwhile, Sebastian is left all alone because his mother had better Thanksgiving plans. I actually feel a little bad for him. At Walt's house, Maggie is a mad because he didn't stick up for her but they make up and she realizes that maybe it's time she started thinking about the future. Things seem to finally be going to plan with Carrie until she finds Dorrit outside smoking pot. Carrie gets real fed up with Dorrit's attitude but Carrie then realizes that this is a hard day because their mother isn't there.

Dorrit has locked herself in her room but Carrie isn't giving up. Then George finds them and she tries to pretend that everything is still perfect. Downstairs, the turkey catches fire and Carrie cracks. After that, the oven explodes and the power goes out. BEST. THANKSGIVING. EVER!

Now that things are destroyed, Dorrit finally comes around when she admits that Carrie actually reminded her of their mother because of Carrie's freak out when the oven caught fire. Apparently their mother hated all the work that went into this holiday. At Maggie's house, her ex-boyfriend, Simon the young cop, has spent the day there, he even tries to get it on with Maggie but she takes a stand for herself and tells him no. Yay character development for Maggie! After this, Harlen and George decide to leave because there's not much holiday cheer at the Bradshaw's. But Carrie and George end on a cute note. As George is leaving, Maggie arrives to join her friends. Also, Sebastian shows up.

Sebastian tells Carrie how crappy his Thanksgiving has been so she asks Tom to allow Sebastian to stay. Sweet potatoes for everyone! In addition, Tom says that he put too much pressure on Carrie for this holiday. We end with a lovely Thanksgiving dinner between family and friends (expect Walt because he's busy keeping his sexuality a secret). 'Endgame' was such a hilarious, cute and fun episode, I loved it so much and I can't wait to see what's happening next week.

Overall episode score:-
'Endgame' = A+
