Glee: Love Love Love (Season 5 Premiere) Recap/Review

'Glee' is finally back after it's, far too long, season break! The season premiere, 'Love Love Love', kicked things off with the first part of the two part Beatles tribute. The absence of Cory Monteith/Finn Hudson is noticeable but that's only because we know what we do. So just put it to the back of your mind because it is going to be dealt with in episode 3. The season begins with Rachel doing a chemistry audition for 'Funny Girl' and afterwards she hears the actor and director saying that she isn't ready. This launches us into the first performance, 'Yesterday', in which Rachel wanders around New York. I love the shots of the city during this performance and might the song choice be a nod towards Cory/Finn?

Mr. Schuester announces to the glee crew that they'll be performing the Beatles for the next two weeks, much to Kitty's dismay. Speaking of, her and Artie go to the carnival where they sing 'Drive My Car', I really liked the carnival setting for this performance. Even though they're on a date, Kitty thinks that they should keep their relationship on the down low. Kitty is such a snob! In New York, Santana and Rachel begin working at the Spotlight Diner cause Rachel needs to start making some money. I'm so, so, so, so happy to see Santana, it's been too long! Meanwhile, Kurt is visiting Blaine at McKinley. Blaine still hasn't proposed yet, by the way. The twosome sing 'Got to Get You Into My Life' which is really sweet and tons of fun.

Remember the whole gun situation with Beckie? Well apparently she confessed so Sue is allowed to teach again. Although, teaching is so been there, done that so she plants porn in Principal Figgins' office. He gets demoted to a janitor and Sue is the new principal. Sue is an amazing woman and if you don't see that then you're wrong. Moving on, Artie and Kitty sing 'You've Got to Hide Your Love Away', such an appropriate song for what they're going through. Then Blaine announces to the New Directions that he's going to propose to Kurt. No one, expect for Artie, seems to remember what happened with Rachel and Finn when they planned to get married. Mr. Schuester didn't even say anything! He's so useless! Also, Blaine wants Vocal Adrenaline, The Warblers and the Havenbrook Deaf Choir to take part in the proposal so the New Directions sing 'Help!' to get them all involved.

Tina finds out about Artie and Kitty's secret relationship and she wants him to confess. At the Spotlight Diner, Rachel has to serve the director and actor that turned her down so she serves them a musical number, 'A Hard Day's Night'. Not gonna lie, I instantly thought about 'Beverly Hills, 9O21O's Brenda Walsh when she performed at the Peach Pit (click here) but Rachel did a much better job, sorry Brenda. Back at McKinley, Coach Roz Washington and Mr. Schue are call to Principal Sue's office. They're both fretting but Sue tells them that she isn't gonna to fire them, instead they must win all competitions. Later, Tina tells the whole club about Artie and Kitty's relationship. Not cool, Tina. However, Kitty don't care. Instead she tells everyone that her and Artie are now official. The guys are totes worried about Tina though cause she seems extra bitter lately so they sing 'I Saw Her Standing There' to her. I love everything about this performance, the costumes, the accents, everything!

On the way to the proposal, Burt gives Kurt a pep talk. I love me some Burt! Afterwards, the proposal is actually kinda amazing. Blaine sings 'All You Need Is Love' with Rachel, Mercedes and Santana in attendance. Oh, and Kurt says yes!!! That's a wrap! I'm so glad to have 'Glee' back in my life and next week looks even more fun with guest star, Demi Lovato!
