Gossip Girl: The Revengers Recap/Review

It was the penultimate episode of 'Gossip Girl' this week with 'The Revengers'. A lot went down in this episode so lets get to it... Blair starts the episode by having one of signature Audrey Hepburn dreams (I'm guessing that it was a Audrey Hepburn movie, I've never seen it before). Is this the last Blair dream sequence that we'll be treated to? Once Blair awakens from her nightmare, she begins to put her plan to take down Bart Bass once and for all into motion. While Blair begins scheming, Dan is searching for a new apartment with the help of Georgina. I love Georgina too much, it's unhealthy at this point. Dan decides that he wants the apartment but the realtor tells him that he'll need a good reference to get in. As we know, Lily left last episode because she's afraid of Bart but she's still helping Chuck. Although they learn that they don't have enough information to convict Bart so Blair thinks they can bluff a confession out of him. In order to do this they must use Ivy so they can keep Lily safe. Serena (who is planning to move to L.A. but keeps it a secret) helps them get in contact with Ivy as she thinks that Ivy is staying at CeCe's Hamptons house. Ivy agrees to help because she's desperate. However, Nate is feeding Bart the plan as he has to keep The Spectator afloat with the help of Bart's money so he has no other choice. Blair, Chuck, Serena and Ivy all meet at The Oak Room (the location for one of the most notable scenes of the season 2 finale). The plan is to use Ivy and copies of the micro-film as bait but Ivy didn't really make copies, Bart doesn't know this though. We then find out that Nate is also in on the plan and he just gave Bart the information that Ivy is back in New York which is exactly what the gang wanted to happen. Although, things take a detour when Bart becomes wise to what the gang is trying to do so he has Nate arrested which he has been threatening to do for episodes now. Nate's arrest kind of reminded me of Serena's season 2 arrest.

Dan meets with Bart to get the reference that he wanted but Bart says he will only give Dan the reference if Dan writes a positive profile about him. Would Dan really stoop that low? I suppose he would as he agrees to it. Serena and Chuck then show up, Serena is still disgusted at Dan so she doesn't stay for long. Upstairs, Bart tells Chuck that he will release Nate if Chuck takes the Bass jet to Moscow and never returns to New York. Bart is really starting to scare me. At Blair's apartment, she has taken Ivy with her in the chance that they need to use Ivy as leverage but then Blair has to leave as there's a problem with new samples at Waldorf Designs. In prison, Sage has come to visit Nate and she has brought Nate's dad, Howard, to help. When Blair tries to take a town car to her office, Bart jumps in and kidnaps her. Get out, Bart!

Thankfully, Bart drops Blair off at her offices and has only used this to scare Chuck and to show him that if he wanted Blair gone then she'd be gone. Back at the prison, Nate admits to Howard that he's guilty for altering numbers at The Spectator. As Blair goes outside to get her town car back to her apartment, she finds that it's missing. Blair realizes that Bart sent her town car with Chuck to catch the Bass jet to Moscow. She comes to terms with Chuck living and says goodbye. But first Blair asks for one final kiss. Meanwhile, Dan learns how ugly Bart Bass really is.

Blair concocts a plan to take the Bart Bassard down with the help of Serena, Ivy, Sage and of course, Georgina. Although, Sage tells Georgina that she shouldn't be part of the plan as she lost her title of the Queen of Con when Sage stole her phone at the debutante ball. Georgina should seriously just punch Sage, I'm getting real tired of Sage's shit. Blair calls the assembled girls 'Blair Waldorf and Her Bitches', I let out a sigh of satisfaction when Blair said that, this is why Blair is the queen. Anyway, the plan is to use their knowledge of Bart's dirty dealings to take him down at the Man of the Year Gala which is being held in his honor. When the event beginnings, Serena plays dumb and points to a slideshow which is playing compromising pictures of Bart. Georgina gives him a program with his dealings related to Lady Alexander printed inside. Sage calls Bart using Bruce Caplan's phone so it looks like old dead Brucie is calling from beyond the grave. Then Ivy hands Bart fake copies of the micro-film. Lastly, Blair puts the final nail in the coffin when she brings Iman along to the gala. Iman tells Bart that she knows what really happened with the oil dealings and Lady Alexander. Bart has had enough at this point so he pulls Blair aside to tell her that life isn't like 'A Christmas Carol', he makes more Christmas references later on which I love because we all know what time of year it is. Blair doesn't really listen to Bart's Christmas decorated threats though because she sees a news story playing in the background. Apparently a Bass jet is reported missing. Bart isn't at all sad about any of it, in fact his name to receive the award is called and he just strolls towards the stage. However, Dan must go up first and instead of introducing Bart, he introduces Chuck. He's alive! Chuck is alive and well, he tells the crowd that Bart tried to have him killed in that plane accident and he then runs off stage.

Bart tries to cover up Chuck's speech by telling the room that Chuck is on all types of drugs and needs help. Why does Bart always win? Blair then thanks Dan for helping Chuck but quickly takes it back when she learns that Serena is moving to L.A. as she feels like it's Humphrey's fault. Nate gets out of prison and he tries to get The Spectator back with the help of Howard but Bart is not giving up. Blair finds Serena and attempts to talk her out of going to L.A. but Serena is not budging. Blair then tries to call Chuck but he's not answering. Chuck is actually up on the roof and Bart arrives to talk to him.

To catch Bart, Chuck starts recording him on his phone but things get heated and Bart smashes the phone. Blair's bitches inform her that Bart took the elevator so she follows him up. In Nate's Empire suite, he and Howard begin to drown their sorrows when Sage comes to comfort Nate further. She tells Nate that he should finally reveal the identity of Gossip Girl. The elevator isn't working for Blair so she has to find the stairs instead. Before Serena leaves for L.A., Dan stops her to confess his feelings but Serena has had it, she's leaving and nobody is stopping her. So Dan slides the Serena chapter into her luggage but this isn't the one he wrote out of spite, instead it's the one that reads like a love letter. Back on the roof, Blair finally gets up there and things get even more heated when Bart goes over the side of the roof. He holds onto the railing but he can't hold on for long and he falls to his death. The episode ends with Blair and Chuck running away from the crime scene and 'to be continued...' shows up on screen. Are we all pumped for the series finale? I don't know how they're going to fit everything in but I can't wait to see what 'Gossip Girl' has in store.
