The Vampire Diaries: We'll Always Have Bourbon Street Recap/Review

I don't know how many more ways I can say that 'The Vampire Diaries' is amazing. It's just a show that is always improving on prior storylines and giving the audience new information. So let's just get down to it... it's the morning after Elena and Damon slept with each other. Caroline and Stefan are still freaking out about Elena being sired to Damon. Whereas, Damon and Elena are having sex again. Elena is actually really playful and cute in this scene, it's fun to see her like this because she's normally so moody. Anyway, Haley and Tyler are still trying to break Klaus' sire bond on a hybrid named Adrian and Kim (who Haley helped break the bond last week) is also helping. Kim sees the pain that Adrian's in so she sets him free but Haley gets real upset about this because she needs to break the bonds for Shane. Haley scares me ever since we found out that she's cohorts with Professor Shane. Back to Elena and Damon, she's getting ready to go to school while they try to think up a way of telling Stefan that they're together now. Although, when Elena opens the door to leave, Stefan is standing there and he sees them laughing so this basically says it all (awkward). Elena leaves anyway and Stefan talks to Damon about Elena being sired. Damon doesn't believe it at first but then Stefan tells him to ask Elena to drink out of a blood bag, if she keeps the blood down then she's obviously sired. At Mystic Falls High, Elena invites Bonnie and Caroline over to stay at the Salvatore's so they can have a slumber party. Elena then sees Damon in the halls and follows him into an empty classroom where he asks her to drink from the blood bag. She actually keeps it down meaning Elena is so sired! We then find out that Haley is breaking the sire bonds for Shane because he has information on where her parents are but she can only get this information when she can hand over twelve hybrids, Haley currently has eleven. I can't believe that this is all so Haley can find out where her parents are, isn't that what private detectives are for? Call Veronica Mars or something. Back at the Salvatore's, Damon reveals to Stefan that there was another girl sired to him in the 1940's, New Orleans and her name was Charlotte. Damon found a witch named Valerie to help break the sire bond on Charlotte so they gotta take a road trip to New Orleans.

At girl's night, Elena shows Bonnie and Caroline that she can now drink out of a blood bag because Damon helped her. Caroline instantly starts getting suspicious and Elena asks her to stop hating. Elena is very childlike in this episode, it's nice for a change. In New Orleans, Stefan begins to question how literal the sire bond is and then his attitude comes out. Damon is trying to do the right thing by breaking the bond so Stefan needs to lay off! We then flashback to the 1940's, Stefan is trying to redeem himself after his ripper antics with the help of Lexi, I've missed Lexi. Stefan seeks out Damon to tell him that he's sorry for blaming him for the whole blood-lust ripper thing. The brothers reunite and start to make plans but Lexi tells Damon that he isn't good for Stefan so he won't be a permanent fixture in Stefan's life right now. Charlotte then enters with a dead body that has blood all over it which is not good for the new Stefan to see. Charlotte is a crazy. This reinforces Lexi's point and her and Stefan are outta there before Damon can stop them. Back in the present, Stefan and Damon make up but when they come to Valerie's store they see that she's not there anymore (unintentional rhyme). Instead they go in search of Charlotte who must know where Valerie is. They can find Charlotte because before Damon left in the 40's he told her to count every brick in New Orleans and he would meet her in the corner of Bourbon and Dumaine. Stefan thinks that if they find Charlotte there then they'll know how literal the sire bond is. At the Mystic Grill, Haley pushes Tyler's buttons and tells him that Kim is trying to be the alpha of the hybrid pack and he needs to take control. Haley does this because she needs to break the bond on Adrian (who Kim is distracting) so she can get the information on her parents from Shane. Tyler enforces his power on Kim but she doesn't like this, she needs to sit down.

Back in New Orleans, they actually do find Charlotte on the corner of Bourbon and Dumaine so now we know that the sire bond is definitely literal. Charlotte still seems pretty dependent on Damon so it looks like that witch's spell didn't work too well (another unintentional rhyme). At the girl's sleepover, they're having a drunk dance party which ends with Elena in the bathtub. After this, there's some atrocious product placement and Elena loses her shit when Caroline keeps bagging on Damon. Elena then tells Bonnie and Caroline that she slept with Damon and it all turns into a big ugly fight. In New Orleans, Damon and Stefan find a store where they think Valerie might be but there's some chick named Nandi there instead. In flashback, we find out that the spell to break the sire bond requires dark magic and the sacrifice of twelve human souls. Also, we learn that Valerie had a daughter. Nandi ensures Damon that nothing in her store is really magical and she lost her family grimoire during Hurricane Katrina. Back at girl's night, the party's over so Caroline just lets everyone know about Elena being sired to Damon. Caroline is the worst at keeping secrets. Elena doesn't believe Caroline and she tries to usher her and Bonnie out but Kim and Adrian get in. They grab Elena and Caroline, Bonnie tries to stop them using her magic because this girls got her mojo back but Kim tells her that she'll kill Caroline if Bonnie doesn't stop. They then get away with Caroline.

Tyler and Elena try to get Caroline back while also trying to get Kim to submit. Before they find Caroline, Tyler tells Elena that being sired to someone doesn't affect their feelings towards the person. Meaning Elena's feelings towards Damon are justified and she doesn't like him just because she's sired, this is good news for Damon/Elena fans. Meanwhile, Stefan and Damon return to Nandi because Damon knows that Nandi is actually Valerie's daughter. She's still not going to help them though because she says that kind of magic is unnatural, it's called 'Expression'. Also, Nandi tells them that a vampire only bonds to their sire when they have feelings for the sire before they turn. Again, good news for Delena fans. She tells them that they can free the vampire by telling them to live their lives without the sire, never think about the sire, stop caring about the sire and then the sire must leave. Caroline is in trouble when Tyler and Elena finally come to save her but Kim has a whole pack on her side.

Elena tries to trade herself for Caroline because Klaus wants Elena alive more. But Tyler grabs Kim and makes her submit. Damn Kim, just give up. Tyler is the alpha because he made Kim submit and he has his own pack/fan club now. Damon then makes Charlotte go away like Nandi told him to, I'll miss Charlotte's crazy ass, bye. Outside, Stefan tells Damon that he won't be able to do the same for Elena. But through flashback we see that Damon signed up for the army and Lexi made him quit because it would be better for Stefan. Now in the present, Stefan feels bad after learning this information. Yeah Stefan! You should feel bad.

The next day, Caroline and Elena are friends again, they hug and everything. Also Bonnie tells the girls that Professor Shane is teaching her 'Expression', oh no! Cut to Shane, who tells Haley that her parents are dead. Are you kidding us, Shane!? But he then tells her that she'll see them again. Shane is the weirdest and Haley should beat him up. Stefan tells Caroline that he has a lot of trust in Damon who goes to see Elena. She begs him to not do whatever it is that he has to do. They share moments and the episode ends before Damon can make a decision about letting Elena go or not. This was an incredible episode and I'm sure next week's will be even better saying as it's the last episode of 2012.

Overall episode score:-
'We'll Always Have Bourbon Street' = A+
