Gossip Girl: High Infidelity Recap/Review

This episode of Gossip Girl was so enjoyable, I seriously can't believe how much I actually enjoyed. There was something about 'High Infidelity' that made it more fun than any other Gossip Girl episode that I've seen in a while. Here's your wake up call: The episode started with Nate waking up next to Sage, Serena waking up next to Steven, Dan waking up to Georgina staring at him (which was really funny) and Blair waking up while fretting about an article that will be written about her upcoming fashion line. Meanwhile, Chuck and Amira plan to crash the family brunch with Lily and Bart so they can try to reveal Bart's big secret. In addition to Blair fretting about the article, Serena is fretting about her first grown-up party. Speaking of Blair, Dorota has been designing Blair's new fashion office while she has been away. I really like Blair's new offices, Blair has needed a place like this for seasons. We then find out that Simon and Schuster has dropped Dan and he has to figure out some other way to publish Inside: Part II. There's a really funny response from Georgina in this scene when she says "please say raw and hard again", I ship Deorgina or Gan so hard. At the brunch, Bart warns Amira about crossing him, while doing so he alludes to the fact that the had an affair. Not a wise move Bart as Lily overhears. Bart is so frustrating, Lily needs to dumb his ass again. Then back at Waldorf Designs we find out that Blair doesn't have any workers yet so she has Kati play the part of a crazed fan and Jessica pretends to be a seamstress. All seems to be going well until Nelly Yuki arrives, it seems that Nelly is the journalist that will be writing Blair's article, I love this, it's such a nice twist. Also, Nelly Yuki is looking so fierce since the last time we saw her.

Anyway, Serena and Nate have a walk and they talk about their new relationships. That is until they see Steven and Sage hanging out together. Cut to Waldorf Designs, Nelly tells Blair that Poppy Lifton will also be featured along-side Blair in the article. I'm loving all these callbacks to earlier seasons and characters. Also, Nelly says that she is still affected by the high school torture that Blair put her through (LOL, I love this). Blair instantly thinks that this means that Nelly is now out for revenge so Blair sends Jessica and Kati to spy on Poppy's designs. Then Nate breaks up with Sage in a voicemail cause homeboy has been burned too many times. Let's hit pause for a second and let me go on record, cause at this point I believed that Sage was Steven's sister or some kind of relative. Okay, that will come into play later. Lets resume and when we do, Lily questions Bart about his affair with Amira. Whatever, Lily. Moving from one crazy van der Woodsen to another, Serena then calls Steven but not to break up, instead to question him. Steven promises Serena that he isn't cheating on her. At the Spectator offices, Nate asks Dan to publish chapters of his new book each week on the Spectator. Dan isn't sure if he wants to open this can of worms as his new book actually names, names. Jessica and Kati then tell Blair that Poppy's designs have the same fabric as Blair's designs. Blair thinks that this is the work of Nelly Yuki so she hatches a scheme to make sure that Poppy's designs will never be photographed. I love a good Blair scheme. While this is happening, Chuck finds out about Bart and Amria's affair from Lily.

After this, Georgina and Dan interview with Vanity Fair, The New York Post etc. about Dan's new book. Unfortunately, they all want to change it in some way; so far the Spectator hasn't expressed any interest in changing the story. Also, can I say that I love how sexual Georgina is in this episode, Philip must not be doing it for her. Additionally, Georgina doesn't even know Nate's name, oh Georgina you are just perfection. Anyway, Blair keeps running into Poppy Lifton sized road blocks so she has to crash Serena's party in order to one up Poppy. The problem is that Blair doesn't have an invitation and she didn't even know that Serena was back in the city. This reminded me of the 'Pilot' and Blair says this later in the episode but she didn't mention how last time Serena didn't get invited to the Kiss on the Lips party and now it's Blair who isn't getting invited. Moving along, Serena tells Lily that she feels like Steven is cheating on her. Lily basically tells Serena that this happens all the time and she should keep going like nothing is happening. Also, she seems so happy about it. Great advice Lily, here's another Mother of the Year Award to add to your collection.

At Serena's party, Blair isn't the only one crashing; it seems that Georgina, Dan and Sage have also not shown up with advanced notice. I'm sure that this is just fine, no need to RSVP, just walk on in. However, Serena doesn't share this view, when she sees Sage she runs to Nate and asks him to get rid of her. When Nate goes to talk to Sage, he alludes to a secret and Sage says that they can just pretend like he doesn't know. Of course Nate just thinks that Sage is being kinky, but this will come to a head later. Nelly then tells Dan that he deserves better and he needs to make up his own rules which leads to him finally giving in to Nate and letting him run the book in the Spectator. Meanwhile, Blair is still frantically trying to pull off her scheme when it all falls apart and Poppy shows up to question Blair. Ugh, can Poppy please go back to jail? How many times do we have to put this bitch in her place? Unfortunately for Blair, Nelly decides to do the article only about Poppy. In Blair's last attempt to save herself, she says to Nelly "you can be my head minion," I loved this line, so funny. However, this does give Blair time to plan out new designs. Also, unfortunate is the fact that Sage is actually Steven's daughter! WHAT!? I was seriously shocked by this, I mean I was thinking sister.

Serena and Nate are both upset with their significant others but they are soon wooed back over. Although, Chuck is having none of it from Bart; he basically tells Bart that he won't stop until he finds out this big secret. I really hope this secret isn't drawn out too much cause I wanna know what went down. I also have a theory that whatever was in the coffin during Bart's funeral has something to do with this big secret, we'll see.

To wrap up the episode Blair sucks up her pride, rolls up her sleeves and gets down to work. Also, Bart gives Lily an expensive necklace to make her forget about the affair. She does. Chuck then gets a clue from Amria, apparently there is a man that he must find out more about. Blair gets some positive reinforcement from Dorota as she plans her new line. And lastly, Serena, Steven and Sage are now one big happy family... or not. The episode ends with Sage planning to takedown Serena and she tells Serena that "no-one in high school reads Gossip Girl anymore, its for old people." Ouch. I don't know why but that hurt and it kinda made me feel old. Sage is now public enemy #1. Regardless, I really liked this episode and I loved the ending song.

Overall episode score:-
'High Infidelity' = B+
