The Vampire Diaries: We All Go a Little Mad Sometimes Recap/Review

'We All Go a Little Mad Sometimes' was the name of this week's 'Vampire Diaries' and it really fit with the overall plot of the episode as Elena was pretty much going insane. Remember how Elena killed Connor last week? Well Connor has been haunting her since his death, his ghost has been appearing all over the place. When Elena can't sleep she goes downstairs to get a warm cup of milk but Connor's ghost won't leave her alone. So Elena calls out to Jeremy for help but he takes too long so Elena just stabs Connor. But Elena actually stabs Jeremy, in her mind he just looked like Connor. Poor Jeremy, this kind of stuff always happens to him. It's okay though because Jeremy was wearing his ring that brought him back to life if he died by a supernatural cause. Elena calls Damon over because she needs someone to listen to her freak out and she doesn't want Stefan to come because he lied to her. Although Stefan comes over anyway and when he goes to talk to Elena she is too angry to talk. I don't really know why Elena is so angry at Stefan, maybe I forgot something from last week. Over at Tyler's, Klaus comes over to check on things after his trip to Italy. Klaus seems to be taking everything well, I expected him to be more upset about Connor's death. Caroline then shows up to keep up with her and Tyler's faux break up, she does this by giving Tyler back some of his things while Klaus watches. Klaus leaves them alone to fight but Tyler, Caroline and Haley just laugh about how Klaus is falling for it. While this is happening, Elena takes a shower to get rid of Jeremy's blood on her hands but the shower overflows with blood. This reminded me of the scene from Teen Wolf in which Lydia was taking a shower and it looked like she was seeing things. Downstairs, Stefan is on the phone to Klaus who tells Stefan that Elena is in for trouble because she killed a hunter. It just so happens that Klaus is waiting outside Elena's house so Stefan goes out to talk to him. I forgot that Klaus has never been invited in before but that's good, they should keep it like that. Anywho, Klaus tells Stefan that because Elena killed Connor, he'll now haunt her until she kills herself. Back with Elena, she starts seeing Connor again and she runs outside to Stefan so he can help her but Klaus grabs Elena and runs away with her.

At the high school, Jeremy and Matt are helping to set up for some presentation that Professor Shane is going to do. Jeremy is getting worried about his new invisible hunter tattoo so he confides in Matt and tells him that he thinks that he's becoming a hunter. April then catches up with the guys and asks them if they've seen Rebekah recently. Matt rolls his eyes at the mention of Rebekah's name which I thought was quite hilarious. Meanwhile Damon and Stefan talk to Bonnie about the curse that is currently being held over Elena but Bonnie says she can't help because she doesn't have her powers anymore but she says that she can ask Shane for help. Klaus locks Elena up as a way to help her with the curse but why would Klaus want to help Elena now that she's worthless to him again, does he have some ulterior motives? Although Klaus comes clean to Elena and tells her about the hunter's map and the cure, he also tells her that he once killed one of the hunters so maybe this is why he is helping. Stefan, Caroline and Tyler all hatch a plan to try to get Elena back from Klaus, Tyler tells Stefan that one of Klaus' hybrids, Chris isn't sired anymore and they're helping to free more hybrids so Chris can help free Elena. Connor appears again to Elena and tells her a big sob story about how he had a family. Vampires have families too and that didn't stop Connor from killing them. Connor tells Elena that she should've died when her car went off Wickery Bridge but Elena is still holding strong and trying to not let Connor get to her. Connor then takes the appearance of Katherine. I thought Katherine was going to come back in the flesh so I was a little disappointed but it was still nice to see her again.

Katherine is really getting at Elena, who is now ready to break. I miss Katherine, I wish she would actually come back. At Mystic Falls High, Damon is hanging in Alaric's old classroom waiting for Bonnie to bring Professor Shane to talk about Elena and the curse. Professor Shane tells Damon and Bonnie that for the curse to be broken, a potential hunter must be awakened by killing a vampire. Basically, Jeremy has gotta get his stakes ready. At the Mystic Grill, Caroline has been sent by the crew to seduce and distract Klaus while the others try to free Elena. Which they finally do but when Stefan enters to help Elena, she sees him as Connor and goes for his throat, she then runs off into the night. Damon tells Jeremy about the whole situation and Jeremy is so ready, he's even willing to kill Damon which I found funny. Back at the Grill, Caroline tells Klaus that Stefan lost Elena but she makes a deal with him. Elena ends up on that damn Wickery Bridge and her mom shows up. This was a nice surprise but this version of her mom is evil as she tells Elena to kill herself, the quickest way for Elena to do this is to take off her ring (she throws it in the river, very Titanic) and wait for daylight so she can burn to death.

Damon finds Elena on the bridge but it's too late because Elena has her mind made up, she's going to kill herself. The sun is quickly rising and the gang's back-up plan is underway. Klaus goes to yell at Chris for freeing Elena but he lets him go. However, Stefan stabs Chris before he can leave and Jeremy chops off Chris' head, freeing Elena from the curse. This reminded me of when Jeremy chopped off that other hybrid's head last season.

Damon gets Elena and her ring home safety and they share a really nice moment, I'm sure that the Damon/Elena shippers are going crazy watching this scene. Caroline goes to tell Tyler that the only reason Klaus agreed to the plan is because she told him that she would go on a date with him. Tyler is already angry and this news makes him even more upset, I think he's overreacting just a tad. Detective Matt meets Damon at the Grill and Matt tells him that the Creepy Pastor made many calls to Professor Shane meaning that Shane is even more involved than what we though. Although, Bonnie keeps getting closer and closer with Professor Shane and he tells her that when Jeremy completes his hunter's mark then Bonnie needs to come to him. In the last scene, Elena and Stefan break up because Elena can't lie to him anymore, she has many feelings for Damon now that she has become a vampire. Sad times. A really sad but great episode, I felt like Elena battling with killing herself could be applied with today's non-supernatural youth battling with depression; especially in the scenes between Katherine and Elena this comparison could be made. Well that's all from VD until after Thanksgiving, see you guys then!

Overall episode score:-
'We All Go a Little Mad Sometimes' = A+
